Introduction

Peasant Potioneer is a 3D shop management game made in a custom engine during my final year at Digipen Institute of Technology Singapore.

In this project, I took the role of the Lead Designer, and came up with the core gameplay and system ideas.

​We had a relatively smaller team with no dedicated artists for this projects, and thus a project with more emphasis on showcasing  technical (on the game engine side) and system (on the gameplay side) design was chosen, that could be done with little complicated art assets, including UI and visual effects. 

A shopkeeper simulator seemed to fit the requirements for us as it was simple to construct with minimal complicated assets required, we went with a blocky voxel art style as a cover up for our deficiencies and make the work a little easier on ourselves. We could showcase a solid system with fundamentals in a game of this nature.
A prototype was created and tested in Unity3D where we collected feedback on the base of the game; Farming, brewing and shop-keeping.
